Olympic spirit to aid NARA

There`s nothing more to represent the epitome of personal challenge than the Olympic Games. Every four years nation vies against nation for the ultimate prize of an Olympic medal. Whether gold, silver, or bronze each represents an accolade which will be cherished for the rest of one`s life and the measure of achievement against the world`s best.

2012 sees the Olympic Games visit the shores of the UK, for the first time since 1948, a spectacle usually reserved for once in any life-time. The prelude to the games itself is the Olympic Torch Relay, an ancient games ritual, which will see the Olympic flame travel from Greece to the UK. After a 70 day 8,000 mile journey covering the length and breadth of the country the torch will ultimately be used to light the flame in the main arena in London. The flame, which represents peace, unity, and friendship, will be carried by 8,000 torchbearers along its route.

“ I want to use this experience to further the future of the charity …”

NARA`s Chairperson, Ann Jiggle, has been nominated as one of the torchbearers and is through to the last phase of the selection process. Sometime during December 2011 the final 8,000 torchbearers will be notified. “I feel extremely honoured to have been nominated as a torchbearer, and trust I get through the final selection phase. If successful, it will not just be a personal honour, but a tribute to the charity and all those involved be they fellow trustees, staff, and patients”, said a delighted Ann. “ I want to use this experience to further the future of the charity and have set a personal target of raising £8,000 during the course of 2012”, she added.
